The Colour Revolution

It was as long as 14 years ago that iMac Flavours hit the shelves, and since then the Colour Revolution has continued to splash itself all over our world.

It just doesn’t get tiring. Every time something new comes out, in a range of candy colours, we jump for joy, feel like kids in a sweet shop, pondering our choices and what they say about us. Over and over.

But the ads are all the same. Stunning, creative, artistic, and colourful. From those early Mac ads, to the Sony Bravia launch, the iPod, iPad, and now the iPhones.

And now it’s all over functional art. We see colour light installations cropping up around cities all over the world, from the LED fountains in Dubai outside the Jumeirah, to those adorning the front of the new Central St Martins building in Kings Cross, evoking the excitement of Christmas every day.

A couple of months ago, Camden Town saw a giant colour chandelier erected outside the tube station for just 3 days for it’s Create Festival. At a build cost of £15,000. It looked great, made people happy, but there wasn’t a piece to take home, or make part of your life. But yes, it got snapped, got shared, got talked about. More to the point, it made people smile. As colour always does.

The National Gallery is housing an exhibition until the 7th September called Making Colour. According to the website you can journey from lapis lazuli to cobalt blue, ancient vermillion to bright cadmium red, through yellow, orange, purple and verdigris to deep green viridian – in a series of colour themed rooms. We can’t wait to go.

And if you’re a business owner, looking for a creative agency to put some colour into your brand, why not pick up the phone. We’d love you to join us, and we can grab a cuppa and discuss design and creativity at the end of a colour-filled day.
